Words to Love

For quite some time I've been keeping a list of the words that dictionary.com sends me; they are interesting, and a little odd, and I put them here for your perusal. Don't you just love the English language? See if you can't use one of these words sometime this week.

bilocation: The state of being or the ability to be in two places at the same time.

cachinnate: To laugh loudly or immoderately.

zetetic: Proceeding by inquiry; investigating.

kenspeckle: Conspicuous; easily seen or recognized.

soupcon: A slight trace, as of a particular taste or flavor.

subaudition: An act or instance of understanding or mentally supplying something not expressed.

ambrosial: Exceptionally pleasing to taste or smell; especially delicious or fragrant.

quaggy: Soft and flabby.

jactation: A restless tossing of the body.

Brobdingnagian: Of extraordinary size; gigantic; enormous.

frabjous: Wonderful, elegant, superb, or delicious.

lucifugous: Avoiding light

mussitate: To silently move the lips in simulation of audible speech.

fossick: To hunt; seek; ferret out.

nympholepsy: A frenzy of emotion, as for something unattainable.
